CHARITY CAR WASH
Rotaract originally began as a Rotary International program
in 1968 at Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, and has grown into a major Rotary
–sponsored organization of over 9,539 clubs spread around the world with
219,397 members. It is a service, leadership and community service organization
for young men and women between the ages 18-30. Rotaract focuses on the
development of young adults as leaders in their communities and work places.
Clubs around the world also take part in international service projects, in a
global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world.
There are a number of Rotaract Clubs in Ghana, one of which
is located at Osu RE (Development of Life). They have taken up the initiative
of embarking on a Dental outreach project. Phase one and two took place at Adukrom in the Eastern Region and
Dawhenya respectively. Phase three is scheduled to take place in
February 2016 with Doctors coming in from the USA as well as supporting Doctors
and Nurses from Ghana. The Dental Van at the Dental school in Korlebu is their
main work station where they clean, fill and extract teeth.
Due to the large turnout at their events, Rotaract Osu RE
with the help of PapFam is organizing a Chariry Car Wash to aid in raising
funds and creating awareness for the Dental project. The Charity Car Wash is
slated to come off on the 29th of August 2015 at the Cahaya
Lounge Bar located on the Ajinganor road opposite Former President Rawling’s residence.
Come by the Cahaya Lounge Bar on the 29th of
August 2015 to get your car washed while being treated to good music with
waiters on hand. T-shirts and Rotary/Rotaract car stickers will be on sale.
Donations to support this project are welcome.
